When do raids unlock in WoW Forever?
The first new World of Warcraft: Forever raids are scheduled to unlock on December 9, 2026. That is more than a month after the November 4 launch, creating a preparation window before new raid progression begins.
For launch timing and beta dates, use the release schedule. For the larger content sequence, see the WoW Forever roadmap.
Which raids unlock on December 9?
The first announced raid wave contains two experiences:
| Raid | Confirmed group size | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Barrow Deeps | 10 players | Planned for first raid wave |
| Hyjal Summit | 20 players | Planned for first raid wave |
Blizzard has also teased new tier sets and a legendary reward, but complete boss and loot tables are not published in the pre-beta reveal.
Why are raids not open on launch day?
Blizzard has not published a detailed design essay explaining the delay, so this wiki does not assign an official reason. Practically, the schedule creates time for players to complete the level 1–60 journey, learn changed classes and run the new dungeon content before raids open.
The leveling guide and nine-dungeon directory cover the main progression systems available around that preparation window.
What raids come after Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit?
Blizzard’s roadmap confirms more raids and also teases a revamped iconic raid later in Forever’s development. The panel does not name that revamped raid or attach exact dates to the later raid releases.
Any page claiming a specific future raid as confirmed should therefore be treated carefully until Blizzard names it. This schedule will be updated as official milestones are announced.
For other future systems, the roadmap also mentions Hardcore, more dungeons, PvP updates, world content and additional quests.
Will the raid schedule change during beta?
It can. Pre-release schedules are plans, and Blizzard can move content based on testing or production needs. This page records the currently announced date rather than promising that it cannot change.
If Blizzard updates the schedule, the last-modified date will change and the Recent Updates page will surface the revision. Individual raid guides will also point back to the current unlock schedule.
What should a raid group prepare before December 9?
Before encounter details are final, the useful preparation work is general: reach level 60, understand your class toolkit, finish important quest chains, learn dungeon mechanics and coordinate a stable group size for the raid you plan to enter.
The class guide hub, systems hub, and dungeon hub are designed to become the preparation path as beta and launch data fills in.
