WoW Forever Classic Plus Explained: Is Forever Classic+?
Is WoW Forever Classic Plus? Here is how Blizzard's permanent level-60 Azeroth compares with the community's Classic+ idea.

Will WoW Forever replace WoW Classic?
Is WoW Forever the official Classic Plus?
World of Warcraft: Forever is the closest official Blizzard product to what the community has spent years calling “Classic Plus,” but Classic+ is not the official name. Blizzard presents Forever as a third permanent World of Warcraft experience that lives alongside modern WoW and Classic.
That distinction matters for search results. If you are looking for “WoW Classic Plus release date,” “Classic+ beta,” or “Blizzard Classic Plus,” the product Blizzard actually announced is World of Warcraft: Forever. Start with our WoW Forever overview and beta and release schedule for the official baseline.
Why does Forever match the Classic+ idea?
For years, “Classic+” usually meant a version of original World of Warcraft that keeps the old-world structure but continues developing new content rather than freezing the game in one historical patch. Forever follows that broad direction.
Blizzard has confirmed a level-60 foundation, more than 1,000 new quests, new and reimagined regions, nine new dungeons, two opening raids, the Skyborne race, class updates, a new battleground, Legacy progression, Camping, and future additions across the 1–60 journey.
The important difference from a fan concept is that Blizzard has now defined its own design pillars. See the level-60 design guide and no flying / no level scaling guide for the rules that shape the experience.
How is Forever different from ordinary WoW Classic?
Classic is mainly about preserving or progressing through historical versions of World of Warcraft. Forever uses the original continents and early-WoW identity as a base for new development.
That means players can revisit familiar parts of Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor while also getting entirely new content. Blizzard has already named Zephras Isle, Riverglades, Mount Hyjal, and Shen’dralas as major new or reimagined destinations.
The dungeon and raid plan also goes beyond preservation. The launch-era roadmap includes nine new dungeons, plus Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit as the first new raids.
Does Forever keep the “Classic feel”?
Blizzard says the design is guided by four ideas: the experience should be approachable and familiar, the world should remain the main character, the journey should matter as much as the destination, and social play should be protected.
The clearest concrete examples are no flying mounts and no level scaling. Leveling remains important, travel still has friction, and new content can be placed throughout the 1–60 journey instead of only at the current level cap.
That does not mean Forever is a museum piece. It also introduces optional Transmog, HD and SD character models, modern and Classic visual presets, gamepad support, and new systems. Our graphics, Transmog and gamepad guide tracks those player-choice features.
Is WoW Forever seasonal like Season of Discovery?
No. Blizzard explicitly says Forever is not a mode, a season, or a new version of Classic. The intention is to keep building this version of Azeroth over time.
The first roadmap already extends beyond launch with more raids, dungeons, PvP updates, world content, additional quests, Hardcore, and a revamped iconic raid. See the WoW Forever roadmap for the current sequence.
What should Classic+ players watch next?
The beta begins September 17, 2026, which is when many of the details that matter to Classic-focused players can finally be checked directly: talent values, class rotations, dungeon tuning, loot tables, profession interactions, and the exact shape of new quest routes.
Until then, this wiki keeps pre-beta pages limited to Blizzard-confirmed facts. For the next steps, read how to get beta access, the class changes overview, and the Skyborne guide.
