What are the Skyborne?

The Skyborne are a new playable race created for World of Warcraft: Forever. Their starting experience takes place on Zephras Isle, one of the first new regions Blizzard highlighted for the game.

Blizzard’s reveal positions the Skyborne as part of the new beginning for original Azeroth rather than a race imported from modern WoW. They are also unusual because Blizzard has confirmed that Skyborne characters can align with either faction.

For the broader class design, see WoW Forever class changes and the level-60 design guide.

How do you unlock the Skyborne?

Blizzard’s optional Skyborne Heroic Pack includes access to the Skyborne race and the Zephras Isle starting experience. The Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection include that access as well, together with additional benefits.

Normal WoW Forever launch access itself remains included with a World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. The Skyborne benefit is one of the optional upgrade perks, not the base subscription requirement.

Which classes can Skyborne play?

Blizzard has already confirmed the core Skyborne class matrix:

  • Both factions: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid;
  • Horde Skyborne: Shaman;
  • Alliance Skyborne: Mage.

Skyborne Druids also receive race-specific druid forms. Blizzard says the race has new racials, customizations, voices, dances, and visual options; exact racial numbers and final tuning will still be verified in beta.

What are the Skyborne racials?

Exact racial ability names, coefficients and cooldowns are deliberately not listed as final yet. Those are high-change-risk values before beta.

When beta opens, this page will be updated with:

  • verified racial names and tooltips;
  • passive and active effects;
  • cooldowns and restrictions;
  • class interactions;
  • faction-specific differences, if any.

Until then, use the beta schedule to know when direct verification begins.
